Hello and welcome!

I'm Len Hamilton, team leader for m2m: Mission to Michigan. M2m is a combined effort of two northern New York Christian churches; Calcium Community Church in Calcium, and Pleasant Meadows Baptist Church in Evans Mills. We are just a few miles apart in physical distance but closely joined in following Jesus' admonitions about serving people in need. We see a larger-than-life need in the overall Detroit area, and want to help address any need as we are able.

This is a firsthand recounting of the August 2010 trip made to Michigan to assess situations there regarding the rehabbing and reconstruction of vacant and distressed dwellings in the greater Detroit area. It was our intention to make suitable contacts in several charitable service agencies, Detroit churches and contractors if possible for the purposes of identifying projects we could undertake or in which we could assist.

What we found was truly eye-opening, though that sounds extraordinarily trite. It is nonetheless true, however, and at least a few of us here in New York are more convinced than ever of our need to be a positive though humble presence there.
